Croatian Association of Crystallographers proudly announces the third edition of its branded workshop “Hot Topics in Contemporary Crystallography – HTCC” to be held in a jewel of the Adriatic – Bol on the island of Brač, from Sep. 23rd to 27th, 2018. We know the location very well, and we know our hosts there (BlueSun Elaphusa Hotel) very well, as do many crystallographers from across the globe who have attended the 3rd European Crystallography School organized by the Croatian Association of Crystallographers in September 2016 at this very place. And we are delighted to work with them again. There is no need to change a winning team.
The third edition shall tackle some of the most fascinating achievements in experimental methods and theoretical approaches in crystallography, expanding over the last decade, that put forward this discipline of ours to the front lines of the structure-activity relation studies, hence to the front lines of natural sciences in general. When designing the programme, we have taken into account the excellent feedback that we have received from the lecturers and trainees of the first two editions, but we have been particularly keen on taking into account the bona fide negative comments, criticisms and suggestions. We appreciate all feedback and every suggetion in order to make each edition of the HTCC better than the preceding ones. The three hot topics chosen to be in-depth covered over the three working days of the HTCC3 are:
- Non-ambient crystallography (HT1),
- Electron crystallography (HT2), and
- Total scattering – beyond Brag equation (HT3).
